Fridleif the Swift
Also known as: Fridleif · Family: Danes · Role: sovereign · First appears: Book Four · Part 14
After Dan, Fridleif the Swift assumed the sovereignty. In Book Four · Part 14, when Huyrwil attacked Zealand, Fridleif defeated his army and killed Huyrwil, Bug, Fanning and Gunholm. While besieging Dublin, he captured the town by setting fire to it, taking advantage of the citizens’ efforts to quench the flames.
After Fridleif’s death, his seven-year-old son Frode was unanimously elected in his stead, as recounted in Book Five · Part 1. In Book Five · Part 9, a lance-head shaken from the king’s shaft was identified as belonging to Odd, Fridleif’s grandson.
