Thibron

Family: Lacedaemonians · Role: general · First appears: Book 3, section 2, part 1/3

Thibron returned home and was fined and banished after the allies accused him of allowing his troops to plunder their friends. In 392 B.C., the Lacedaemonians sent him to fight Struthas, whose hostility toward them contrasted with his friendliness toward the Athenians.

In 391 B.C., at the plain of the Maeander, Struthas’s cavalry defeated Thibron’s forces. Thibron and Thersander were among the first killed. In 390 B.C., Diphridas was ordered to gather the survivors of Thibron’s army and continue the war against Struthas.
