Angus Og
Also known as: Angus · Family: Tuatha de Danaan · Role: son of the Dagda · First appears: The Gods · The Coming of the Tuatha de Danaan · The Reign of Bres · Part 1
Angus Og is the son of Dagda. When Dagda complained that Cridenbel demanded the best parts of his food, Angus gave him advice and three pieces of gold. Later, with Manannan’s help, he obtained Brugh na Boinne from his father for all time. Dichu took service with him after returning to find Dagda gone, and Angus sometimes came from the Brugh to be seen on earth. He gave his horse to Ribh and Eocho to carry their goods, and, in the time of Maeve of Cruachan, brought Caer Ormaith to the Brugh.
When Etain Echraide was driven from Bri Leith, Angus took her into his keeping and refused Midhir’s request to have her back; their quarrel was later settled. After finding Fuamach with Etarlaim, he struck off her head. Angus loved Derbrenn, and Enghi loved him though she had never seen him.
In the hunt for his enchanted pigs, Angus revealed that the black pig killed there was his son. He cursed Bran (Finn's hound) so that she would never see a deer she killed. Angus and Finn made peace and agreed to foster one another’s sons.
When Diarmuid was born, Angus took him from Donn (father of Diarmuid) and reared him at Brugh na Boinne; Donn later sent another child to Angus, and the two boys were raised together. Angus offered to bring Diarmuid and Grania away unseen, but Diarmuid refused to leave with him. Angus carried Grania away under his cloak, and later helped the pair escape Finn again. When Diarmuid was in danger, Angus came secretly to his aid, disguising Garbh of Slieve Cua as him; after Diarmuid died, Angus took his body to the Brugh and promised to restore life to him.
