Micah
Family: Judah · Role: prophet · First appears: Jeremiah 26
Micah is a prophet of Judah who received God’s word concerning Samaria and Jerusalem “in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.” During Hezekiah’s reign, he proclaimed judgment but was not put to death, because Hezekiah feared God, sought Him, and turned from the threatened evil.
In Micah 3, God empowered Micah to declare Jacob’s transgression and Israel’s sin. God then commanded him to arise and contend before the mountains; bearing God’s indignation until He vindicated him and brought him into the light, Micah remained devoted to God: “Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.”
