Acrisius
Role: former ruler · First appears: Book 2 · Chapter 16
Acrisius, son of Abas, divided the kingdom with his brother Prœtus, remaining at Argos while Prœtus held other territories in Argolis. They later fought for supremacy, but neither could defeat the other, and they made peace. Acrisius was married to Eurydice and had a daughter for whose safekeeping he had a brazen chamber constructed.
At Larissa, Perseus came to see his mother’s father, Acrisius, and unintentionally killed him with a quoit, fulfilling the prophecy. Perilaus later deposed Acrisius and succeeded him.
