Benjamin names Bela among his sons. Later, when the sons of Esau chose a king, they selected Bela, son of Beor, a warrior sent by King Agnias. They crowned him, built him a palace, and gave him gifts of silver, gold, and gems.

Bela reigned for thirty years before he was killed in battle against Joseph and his brethren at Raamses. His army was defeated, and Bela and one-fourth of his troops were left on the field. After his death, the sons of Esau appointed Job to succeed him.
