Larine

Also known as: Larine Mac Nois · Family: Munster · First appears: The Combat of Larine Mac Nois

In “The Combat of Larine Mac Nois,” Larine Mac Nois was summoned the next day as the brother of Lugaid Mac Nois, King of Munster. Findabair was put at his right hand and promised to him if he brought back Cuchulainn’s head; Larine accepted, saying, “I will bring it.”

At Glenn Firbaith, Lugaid asked Cuchulainn to spare his brother: “On your friendship then, do not kill him, lest you should leave me without a brother.” The next day, Cuchulainn took Larine’s arms from him, shook him, and threw him between Lugaid’s hands, but Larine survived the encounter.
