Periphetes
Role: son of Hephæstus · First appears: Book 2 · Chapter 1
At Epidaurus the Holy, while Theseus was clearing the road from Trœzen to Athens of evildoers, Theseus killed Periphetes, described as “the putative son of Hephæstus” and a fighter with a brazen club. Later material gives conflicting parentage for Periphetes: it calls Parthaon his son, and also calls Periphetes the son of Nyctimus.
