Psi & the Cloud

Rho MD thinks about knowledge the way astronomers think about the sky.

Psi — your local library

Psi is Rho MD's document library. Point it at a folder (or let it create one) and every note you save becomes part of your galaxy:

  • Browse & search — the Psi view in the activity bar lists your constellations and full-text-searches every star.
  • Star map — open the 3D map and fly through your library; linked documents pull close, clusters emerge on their own.
  • Links[[wikilinks]] connect stars; connections show up in the map and in each document's context.
  • Protection — any document can carry a password; fully encrypted stars show a lock badge and stay unreadable on disk.

Everything is plain .md on your own disk. Psi adds understanding, never lock-in.

The cloud — rho.md

Sign in from Settings → Cloud to connect your galaxy to rho.md:

  • Sync keeps your library available across devices.
  • Share a document with a link — readers don't need an account.
  • Publish makes a document a public star under your handle at rho.md/@you, readable on the web and inside every Rho MD.

Discover — read the sky

The Discover view (compass icon) is where other people's galaxies come to you:

  • Open any rho.md/p/… link as a clean, read-only tab — no account needed.
  • Visit an author's page to see their whole galaxy, star map included.
  • Chart a star you love — it joins your personal star chart, and gravity gently pulls related work into your Nearby view.
  • Save to Psi any published document to keep a local copy in your own galaxy.

Documents you've opened from the cloud are cached, so they keep working offline.

Getting help

These guides live in the @rho-guide galaxy — the official one. Press F1 in the app any time to open it; offline, the bundled Quick Start opens instead.
