Family: Christian · Role: prophet · First appears: Acts 11

Agabus, a Christian prophet, stood at Antioch in Acts 11 and, guided by Holy Ghost, foretold a great famine throughout the world: “there should be great dearth throughout all the world,” which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

In Acts 21, at Jerusalem after many days, Agabus used Paul’s girdle to bind his own hands and feet, declaring through Holy Ghost that Jews would bind Paul and deliver him to the Gentiles: “Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.”
