Rhadamanthys
First appears: Apollodorus, Library 2.4
In Crete, Europa bore Rhadamanthys to Zeus alongside Minos and Sarpedon, and Asterius brought up her children. When they grew up, Rhadamanthys and Minos quarrelled over Miletus, while another account says their dispute concerned Atymnius; Sarpedon is also named among his rivals in this conflict.
Rhadamanthys legislated for the islanders before fleeing to Boeotia, where he married Alcmena after the death of Amphitryon—“Rhadamanthys, son of Zeus, married Alcmena after the death of Amphitryon”. Later, he acted as judge in Hades with Minos, and Heracles quoted one of his laws.
