Megara

First appears: Apollodorus, Library 2.4

🌐 Also appears in: Greek Tragedy — The Same Myth, Three Voices (as Megara)

Megara was Creon’s eldest daughter, and Heracles received her as a prize of valor. They were married, and she became the mother of three sons, Therimachus, Creontiades, and Deicoon.

After the battle with the Minyans, Heracles was driven mad through Hera’s jealousy and killed the children he had by Megara, along with two children of Iphicles. He condemned himself to exile and was assigned ten labours serving Eurystheus. After his labours, Heracles returned to Thebes and “gave Megara to Iolaus,” before seeking marriage himself.
