In Hesiod’s Theogony, Night is Strife’s parent. Strife is then named as the parent of Toil, Forgetfulness, Famine, Sorrows, Fightings, Battles, Murders, Manslaughters, Quarrels, Lying Words, Disputes, Lawlessness, Ruin, and Oath.

In Apollodorus’s Epitome, Strife sets an apple forward as a prize of beauty for Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite to contend over, making the three rivals.
