Iring
Family: Danes · First appears: Adventure XXXV · How Iring Was Slain · Part 1
In Adventure XXXV, Iring of Denmark fought Hagen fiercely in the hall but could not overcome him. He turned on Folker, who struck him, then fought Gunther without either drawing blood. After Gernot nearly killed him, Iring escaped and slew four Burgundian henchmen; Giselher knocked him down, but he recovered unwounded.
Iring later wounded Hagen with his sword, and Hagen pursued him down the stairs. In the next part of the adventure, Hagen fatally wounded him with a spear. Iring was Hawart’s liegeman and served Kriemhild and Etzel; dying, he said, “Death will no longer let me serve you and Etzel.”
