Habakkuk
Role: prophet · First appears: Habakkuk 1
In Habakkuk 1, Habakkuk cried out to God over unanswered pleas and violence, asking, “O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!”
In Habakkuk 2, God answered him and commanded him to write the vision plainly: “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
In Habakkuk 3, even as the fig tree failed, the fields yielded no food, and the flocks and herds were gone, Habakkuk chose to rejoice in God. He declared, “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation,” and God became his strength, enabling him to walk upon high places.
