Oenone
Also known as: the Nymph · Family: Nymphs · Role: Paris's wife · First appears: Book X · Part 2
In Book X, Part 2, Paris came to Oenone through the night, begging her to heal his wound and save him from death. Though his survival depended on her choice, she refused and drove him from her doors. In Part 3, while her father and maidens slept, Oenone rushed to Paris’s funeral pyre and leapt onto it, dying as she clasped him. They were burned together and reduced to ashes; their bones were placed in a golden vase and buried beneath a mound marked by two pillars.
