Family: unknown · Role: Offa's ancestor · First appears: A.D. 449–556
A.D. 449 records Wecta as a child of Woden. In A.D. 547, Woden is named as a child of Fritholaf, and in A.D. 552 Balday is recorded as his child. A.D. 560 names both Waddy as Woden’s child and Frithowulf as his parent.
In A.D. 626, Whitley is recorded as Woden’s child. That year, Penda began to reign; the annal traces his ancestry through Offa and Wearmund to Whitley and Woden. A.D. 854 records Woden as a child of Frithuwald and repeats Balday’s descent from Woden.
