Sarvik

Also known as: old Sarvik / the prince of Põrgu · Family: Põrgu · Role: lord of Põrgu · First appears: Canto XIV · The Palace of Sarvik · Part 1

In Canto XIV · The Palace of Sarvik, Sarvik lives with his wife; Tühi is his brother-in-law, his mother is the bitch of Põrgu, and his grandmother is the white mare. An old woman in his palace heats his bath and whisks his back and shoulders. Sarvik selects workmen and maids from his kingdom and forces them to perform hard tasks. At Põrgu, the eldest and second sisters change his magic glasses and secure the wishing-rod to aid Kalevide, who challenges Sarvik to wrestle. Kalevide defeats him, but Sarvik shrinks and sinks out of sight.

In Canto XVIII · The Kalevide's Journey to Põrgu, Sarvik orders his forces against Kalevide. Kalevide fights through them, and Sarvik fortifies himself. Emerging from hiding, Sarvik mistakes the cups and drinks the water of weakness, while Kalevide drinks the water of strength. In Canto XIX · The Last Feast of the Heroes, they wrestle for seven days and nights; with help from the shade of Linda, Kalevide defeats Sarvik, chains him, and drags him to the iron chamber. In Canto XX · Armageddon, the gods assign Kalevide to guard Põrgu’s gates so Sarvik can never escape his bonds.
