Abraham
Family: Israel · Role: patriarch · First appears: Isaiah 29
Abraham, patriarch of Israel, is first shown in Isaiah 29 in relation to God, who redeems him concerning the house of Jacob. In Isaiah 41, God calls him “my friend” and identifies Jacob as Abraham’s seed, while Jacob is chosen as God’s servant.
In Isaiah 51, God recalls how he called Abraham alone, blessed him, and increased him. By Micah 7, God’s relationship with Abraham is bound to a sworn covenant, as he fulfills the mercy promised to Abraham and the truth promised to Jacob from the days of old.
