The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle

Ida

Family: Northumbrians · Role: king of the Northumbrians · First appears: A.D. 449–556

In 547, Ida, son of Eoppa, began his reign and built Bamburgh-Castle; “from whom first arose the royal kindred of the Northumbrians.” In 560, on Ida’s death, Ella took the government of the Northumbrians; the record says each reigned thirty winters.

A record under 593 names Ethelric as Ida’s child and says Ethelfrith succeeded to the kingdom of the Northumbrians. In 729, Occa is placed in a genealogy as a descendant of Ida.
