Sir Plenorius
Also known as: Plenorius · Family: Arthur's court · Role: knight · First appears: Book IX, Chapter VII
In Book IX, Chapter VII, Sir Plenorius met La Cote Male Taile in combat, and the two rivals struck each other from their horses. In the next chapter, Sir Plenorius took the wounded La Cote Male Taile prisoner, carried him to his tower, and had his wounds treated. He then fought Sir Launcelot, who defeated him; “Then Sir Plenorius yielded him, and his tower, and all his prisoners at his will.” Among those prisoners was King Carados.
At La Cote Male Taile’s request, Sir Plenorius was allowed to retain his livelihood if he would come to King Arthur’s court with his brethren and become Arthur’s man. Sir Launcelot received his troth and promised him a place among the Knights of the Round Table; at the following Pentecost, King Arthur made Sir Plenorius and La Cote Male Taile Knights of the Table Round and granted them lands. Sir Plenorius and his brethren thereafter mostly attended Sir Launcelot, and in Book XX he joined the twenty-two knights who pledged to do as Sir Launcelot wished. Later, Sir Launcelot made him Earl of Foise.
