Felix
Also known as: the governor · Family: Roman · Role: governor · First appears: Acts 23
In Acts 23 at Caesarea, soldiers of Claudius Lysias delivered a letter and presented Paul before Felix. He postponed the hearing until Paul’s accusers arrived, saying, “I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come,” and ordered him kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
After five days, Ananias the high priest and Tertullus accused Paul before him. Felix deferred the matter until Lysias the chief captain came, ordered Paul kept in custody while allowing his acquaintances access, and later, when Drusilla was with him, heard Paul’s teaching; Felix trembled and postponed his response. After two years, Festus succeeded him, and Felix left Paul bound, willing to please the Jews.
