Myths of the Iroquois

the boy (Chapter 043)

Role: grandson · First appears: The Boy And His Grandmother

The boy lived in the wilderness with his grandmother. One day, she told him that a man in the west waited to destroy them and would injure them if he saw them. When a hurricane came, the boy turned their house into a rock, and they emerged unharmed; he did the same again during a hailstorm, protecting himself and his grandmother.

At the lake, the boy threw a charm stone into the water, which began to boil. The next morning, he found the man transformed into a frog and killed it, and no more trouble came to him or his grandmother.
