Cormac
Family: Gael · Role: king · First appears: The Gods · The Ever-living Living Ones · His Three Calls to Cormac · Part 1
Cormac, grandson of Conn of the Hundred Battles and King of Teamhair, accepted a branch from a stranger in exchange for three gifts. At the end of a year, he gave his daughter Aille to the stranger; a month later, the stranger took his son Carpre Lifecar, and then his wife, Ethne (wife of Cormac). A thick mist separated Cormac from his people on the Plain of the Wall, and he followed his family until he reached the stranger’s place.
There, Manannan revealed that he had brought Cormac by enchantment to be with him in friendship. He returned Cormac’s wife and children, along with a cup for judging truth from untruth and the branch for music and delight. The next morning, Cormac found himself with his family, branch, and cup on the green of Teamhair; as Manannan had foretold, the cup was no longer in Ireland after Cormac’s death.
