The Dun of Cualnge
Also known as: the Bull · Role: bull · First appears: The Death of Lethan
In “The Death of Lethan,” the Bull went to Sliab Culind with fifty heifers, followed by his keeper Forgemen. He threw off the boys who played on him, killed two-thirds of them, and dug a trench in Tir Marcceni in Cualnge before he went.
In “The Death of Lochu,” Lothar revealed that the Bull was at the Black Corrie of Glenn Gatt with three twenties of heifers. Medb’s people brought him to Findabair Cuailnge. There he attacked Lothar and killed him, then charged the camp with his heifers, killing fifty warriors.
In “The Death of Redg the Satirist,” Forgemen took the Bull from the troop driving him, but was driven into a narrow gap and trampled by the cattle. In “The Muster of the Men of Ireland Here · Part 2,” the Bull and The White-horned fought over Bricriu Poison-tongue, who died. The two bulls then met at Tarbga in Mag Ai; the Dun of Cualnge died at Druim Tairb, between Ulster and Iveagh.
