Sir Urre
Also known as: Sir Urre of the Mount / Urre · Family: Hungary · Role: knight · First appears: Book XIX, Chapter X
Sir Urre of the Mount, a knight of Hungary, became a rival of Sir Alphegus at a great tournament in Spain, where he slew him after receiving seven wounds. In vengeance, Sir Alphegus’s mother enchanted the wounds so that they festered and bled until the best knight in the world searched them. Sir Urre was carried toward Carlisle with his sister Felelolie, who brought his condition before King Arthur.
At Carlisle, King Arthur examined Sir Urre’s wounds, but they renewed their bleeding. Sir Urre submitted himself to the king, saying, “Most noble christened king, said Urre, do as ye list, for I am at the mercy of God, and at your commandment.” Sir Launcelot then searched the wounds in prayer, and “forthwith all the wounds fair healed, and seemed as they had been whole a seven year.”
The next morning, Sir Urre and Sir Lavaine were made knights of the Table Round, and King Arthur gave each a barony. Sir Urre’s sister Felelolie married Sir Lavaine, while Sir Urre remained with Sir Launcelot, awaiting upon him with Sir Lavaine and seeking adventures. Later, Sir Launcelot made him Earl of Estrake.
