In Chapter II, Volsung was cut from his mother’s womb and became king of Hunland in place of his father, Rerir. When he came to manhood, he married Ljod, daughter of Hrimnir; they had ten sons and one daughter, including the twins Sigmund and Signy.

In Chapter III, Volsung gave Signy in marriage to Siggeir.
