Orion
First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.4
Pherecydes says Orion was the son of Poseidon and Euryale. He first married Side, whom Hera cast into Hades for rivaling her in beauty; afterwards, at Chios, he wooed Merope, daughter of Oenopion. Oenopion made him drunk, blinded him while he slept, and cast him onto the beach: “But Oenopion made him drunk, put out his eyes as he slept, and cast him on the beach.”
Poseidon had given Orion the power to stride across the sea. Seeking the sunrise, Orion went to Hephaestus’ smithy, took up a lad, and had him lead the way. Eos fell in love with him, carried him off, and brought him to Delos, where Artemis killed him after he either challenged her to quoits or offered violence to Opis.
