the boy (Myth 63)
Role: Thunder's son · First appears: Myth 63 · Ûñtsaiyi', the Gambler · Part 1
In Myth 63, the boy’s mother told him that Thunder was his father and could cure his sores, so he set out to find him. Thunder recognized him as his son and cured him by boiling him with roots; afterward, Thunder gave him buckskin clothes and a war club, and sent him to fight his two elder brothers. When the boy pretended to strike a honey-locust tree, Thunder stopped the fight, having seen that he was brave and strong.
In Part 2, Thunder promised the boy would win against Ûñtsaiyi' and tied a small gourd to his wrist. The boy won their games, including wagers for Ûñtsaiyi''s wife and life. When the gambler fled, the boy and his brothers pursued him with the Horned Green Beetle, caught him at the edge of the great water, and bound and staked him in its depths.
