The Sháh Námeh

Súdáveh

Family: Hámáverán · Role: daughter of the Sháh of Hámáverán · First appears: The Seven Labors of Rustem · Part 5

In The Seven Labors of Rustem, Súdáveh married Kai-káús within a week of arriving, but when he and his warriors were seized and imprisoned the following night, she declared that she would rather die than be separated from him and was taken to the same dungeon.

In The Story of Saiáwush, she called Saiáwush to her secret bower, embraced and kissed him, and he withdrew from her advances. She then accused him of assaulting her. Kai-káús recognized his innocence but spared her, and Saiáwush, vindicated by surviving the ordeal of fire, interceded when the king resolved to put her to death. In the end, Rustem killed Súdáveh in vengeance for Saiáwush.
