Mesroda Mac Datho
Also known as: Mac Datho · Family: Leinster · Role: king · First appears: Mac Datho's Boar · Part 1
Mesroda Mac Datho, son of Datho and king of Leinster, accepts his wife’s counsel to offer the hound to both kingdoms, replying, “I have joy for this speech from thy tongue.” After three days and three nights, he tells the Connaught messengers that he will give the hound to Ailill and Maev. He later tells the Ulster messengers that he has awarded it to Conor; these are separate announcements.
On the same day, the armies of Connaught and Ulster arrive together at his palace, where his boar is slaughtered for them. In Part 2, Mesroda Mac Datho brings out Ailbe on a leash and releases him. The hound joins the Ulster army and attacks the fleeing Connaughtmen.
